AN OLD TOWN CLASSIC
Founded in 1889 by a single mom raising 6 children, the town of Lafayette, Colorado, still reflects the spirit and undying resourcefulness of Mary Miller. Locals here know two things about Lafayette. First, their town is pronounced “Law-fee-et”, not “Lah-fay-ett". Locals also know that if you stick around Lafayette long enough, you’ll fall in love with it. All 26,000 of its residents can tell you that themselves.

Though it has long outgrown the original 158 acres, Lafayette offers all the amenities of living close to Denver and Boulder while providing residents with the benefits of a small town. As a well-planned community, you’ll enjoy the greenbelts, biking trails, and open space, all of which help to preserve the natural beauty of Colorado. In fact, it’s hard to beat the Rocky Mountains and the nearby Flatiron Mountains when as a daily backdrop.
There are over twenty neighborhood parks serving the population of nearly 30,000 residents. Recreation centers provide access to indoor and outdoor pools, workout facilities, and a variety of leagues and activities. If you’d prefer to rent a boat rather than buy one, you can do so at Waneka Lake and are welcome to use the picnic facilities afterwards. For the golfers in the family, they can enjoy Indian Peaks Golf Course, designed by three-time U.S. Open winner Hal Irwin.
Living in Lafayette, young families will have access to award-winning day care centers and pre-schools. The town is part of the respected Boulder Valley School District and is only a short drive to one of the nation’s premier colleges, the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Lafayette Library was remodeled in 2013 and includes over 30,000 square feet of books, media, meeting rooms, and a cultural arts area. Young children will enjoy the kid-friendly areas of the library, too. After checking out a book, walk next door and check out the two-acre community park.
Residents of Lafayette have excellent dining and entertainment options right in town.
