The annual Erie Town Fair and Balloon Festival are two good examples of why people love Erie. During the town fair, the historic downtown district is filled with over 200 food and craft vendors offering unique items to taste, try, savor and buy.  Music lovers enjoy the live music stage at Coal Creek Ball Park, featuring family friendly bands and local musicians.  On the weekends, the skies above Erie are painted with hot air balloons, launching early in the morning.  It’s an aerial display of beauty everyone can appreciate.

The Erie Chamber of Commerce sponsors a wide variety of fun and exciting community-centric activities, including a summer concert series that with food booths and face painting for the kids.  If you prefer beer over face painting, you’ll love Erie’s annual Brew Fest held in July. Downtown Erie hosts over 30 different breweries during Brew Fest, providing ample selection no matter what your taste. And not too surprising the Town of Erie was selected as the #1 Safest Mid-Sized Town in Colorado in 2015 by ValuePenguin!

Erie has plenty of outdoor room to explore via an excellent trail system. You will find trails that connect local neighborhoods with retail and commercial centers as well as other regional trails. If you enjoy being off the beaten path, you’ll enjoy Erie’s less travelled trails, which meander through open space and rural areas.  Or maybe you like to fish? If so, you can spend an entire day at either Erie Lake or Thomas Reservoir.  The lakes are periodically stocked with fish by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife department.  With over 300 days of sunshine, there’s a good chance you’ll need to wear sunblock.

Of course, Erie’s backyard is comprised of the majestic Rocky Mountains.  Only a two hour drive and you can reach a multitude of ski resorts, offering many Erie residents the opportunity to catch an afternoon of skiing and to return before dinner. Mountain biking enthusiasts will enjoy the non-winter months in the Rocky Mountains as well. Take your bike to the top of a ski run and cut loose!

Situated within both Weld and Boulder Counties, the town of Erie offers easy accessibility to all that Denver has to offer. Quality health care facilities are within minutes for most residents and Erie’s public schools consistently receive high ratings. Erie is scheduled to open a new elementary school in the fall of 2017 to be located southwest of Erie Parkway and Flatiron Meadow Boulevard.   The Erie Community Library boasts over 20,000 square feet of learning opportunities – including books!
